value, excluding other possible transmissions on the same channel but
external to the group, who use a dierent tone, or don't use any tone. For
correct use of the CTDCS function, however, certain factors must be
considered:
1. Use of the subaudible tone depends on the inhibition of reception;
therefore, correspondents who have not set a receiving tone will
nonetheless receive all communications on the channel, regardless of
whether or not they have a transmission tone.
2. Like the VOX function, tone decoding requires a few moments for the
device to switch to reception mode. Therefore, the initial segments of
messages (in the order of a few tenths of a second) may be “cut” and
therefore not perceptible by correspondents.
3. The tone value selected by the transmitter must be the same as the
one selected for reception by all correspondents that are expected to
be contacted, otherwise the communication will not be received by
receivers who have set a dierent reception tone.
4. It is possible to select a transmission tone dierent to the reception
tone. This makes it possible to create dierent groups, each with their
own common tone value on the same channel, selecting with which
to communicate by simply changing the transmission tone.
5. The simultaneous transmission of two particularly intense signals, for
example from two particularly close transmitters, could create
reciprocal interference that could prevent the receiver from decoding
the tone. Selecting a less “busy” channel is normally preferable when
using a subaudible tone

5.12 – Power Save Function
The device has a function to maximise the life of the battery which can, if
necessary, activate reception alternated with more or less long standby
periods, depending on the selection made by the user. With longer standby
