5.10 – Key lock
To prevent the front and side keys from being accidentally pressed, the
device has a specic function to lock them, which prevents all operations
except for reception, transmission, device power-on and power-o, volume
regulation and subsequent unlocking.
To lock the front keys, as well as the two side buttons (MONITOR and
TORCH), press and hold the front EXIT button for three seconds: the device
will emit a sound and the key-shaped icon will appear on the display. From
this moment on, the lock is active. If the locked buttons are pressed, a tone
will be emitted and the key-shaped icon will ash as a warning, but none of
the functions will be activated. This makes it impossible to accidentally
change channel or activate other functions (see below).
To unlock the keys and perform operations requiring their functionality, press
the EXIT button again for three seconds. The device will emit another sound
and the key-shaped icon will disappear from the display, reactivating all the
buttons. The key lock is not aected by switching the device on or o. The
key lock will remain even after the device is switched o and then on again.
The key lock can also be automatically activated after a set time has passed
since any buttons were pressed. For the automatic key lock activation and
deactivation procedures, possibly also with simultaneous activation of the
Power Save feature (see below), see the next chapter, “Advanced functions”.
5.11 – CTDCS (Subaudible tones) function
The device has a function that allows transmission by adding a non-audible
(subaudible) audio signal (tone) to the voice, with a frequency varying
between 50 standard values, in order that reception by the receiver is
inhibited in the absence of that particular signal on the incoming
communication. This will circumscribe the conversation to only those
correspondents who have previously agreed to use a certain common tone
