happen if the signals are transmitted from a considerable distance or are
emitted by low-powered equipment.
To make these communications audible, the background noise silencing
function can be disabled, allowing the device to receive all possible signals
on the selected channel. Pressing the MONITOR button (located under the
PTT button) disables the silencing circuit, allowing full reception on the
channel. Once the weak communications have been received, pressing the
MONITOR button again re-enables the silencing circuit. While the circuit is
disabled, the LED at the top of the device will remain lit blue, and the
inbound signal intensity bar will be displayed at maximum length.
5.7 – Scan function
Using this function, reception can be enabled on all channels by
sequentially setting each one in rapid succession. Since reception is only
possible on one channel at a time, the SCAN function does not guarantee
simultaneous reception on multiple channels but rather allows monitoring
of normal radio traic over the entire range.
When a signal is received, the SCAN function pauses on that channel for the
duration of the communication plus an additional ve seconds. It then
resumes sequentially monitoring the channels. Transmission, normally
controlled by the PTT button, occurs on the channel that is selected when
the SCAN function is activated.
The SCAN function can also be limited to certain desired channels by
excluding or including said channels in the list of channels in the SCAN
function. See the next chapter “Advanced functions” for how to activate and
deactivate the function, as well as how to create the desired scan list.
5.8 – VOX function
The device has a function called VOX allowing the device to operate in
transmission mode without pressing the PTT button. Messages can simply
be pronounced in the direction of the microphone, as one would normally
