CTCSS Function
ADVANCED OPERATIONS
The CTCSS function allows to make selective communica-
tions, ie addressed to a specific group of correspondents,
by inserting an audio tone, among the 50 available, (called
sub-audio, being in fact not audible to the correspondents,
but only to the apparatus) to the conversation.
Only communications issued by correspondents using the
same selected tone will therefore be audible on the
selected channel. In this way it is possible to exclude from

To activate the SCAN function, briefly press the P1 button
(fig. Page 11). The device will confirm the activation of the
function by means of the "Scan on" voice message.
With SCAN function active, the following figure will be
shown on the display: while the
LED (fig. page 11 n. 3) will flash
green twice every second.
If the device receives a communication on any channel, the
scan will stop and it will be possible to transmit on the
channel on which the scan has stopped. After 5 seconds
without communications or after the end of any transmis-
sion, the scan will automatically resume.
To deactivate the SCAN function, press the P1 key again:
the device will confirm the operation by means of the vocal
message "Scan off" and will retune to the previously
selected channel both in reception and transmission.

not use the same tone or who do not use at all the function.
In this way it is possible to increase the available channels
out of all proportion, since 50 different tones can be
assigned to each channel!
To activate the CTCSS function, briefly press the P2 button
(fig. Page 11), the word "OFF" will appear on the display:
this indicates that the function is currently deactivated. By
turning the channel selector it is possible to select the
sub-audio tone to be used, among the various proposed
between 62.5 and 254.1 Hz.
If more than two seconds elapse without any tone being
selected, the device returns to the display of the channel
and, to resume the tone selection function, it will be neces-
sary to press P2 again.
Once the desired tone has been definitively selected,
briefly press the P2 button: the device confirms the
insertion of the function by showing a check mark on the
display. From this moment the transmission will be accom-
panied by the selected sub-audio tone and it will be
possible to receive only the communications issued by
other devices that have selected the same tone with the
same procedure.
To deactivate the CTCSS function, simply repeat the
activation procedure previously described, selecting "OFF"
instead of the previous tone, then confirm the switch-off by
briefly pressing the P2 button. Also in this case, the device
