muting circuit is cut off, completely opening the reception
on the channel; once the reception of low intensity commu-
nications is finished, it is possible to reinsert the muting
circuit by pressing key 8 again for two seconds.
For the entire duration of the circuit
exclusion, the display shows:
Vox Function
Fig. pag. 11 key 10 – The device has a function, called
VOX, which allows you to put the device in transmission
without pressing the PTT button, but simply by speaking
the messages into the microphone as for normal communi-
cations. This function allows the use of the device
hands-free, even if it lends itself to some operational
measures:
1 Automatic switching takes a few moments to put the
apparatus into transmission: it is therefore possible that
the very first parts of the messages (in the order of a few
tenths of a second) are "cut" and not perceivable by the
correspondents
2 The VOX circuit is not able to distinguish an environmen-
tal noise from the human voice, even if it is calibrated to
switch only in the presence of communications of
comparable intensity: it is therefore not recommended to
use it in particularly noisy or crowded places, in order to
minimize the possibility of unwanted transmissions,
which, due to the one-way nature of the communication,
would inhibit reception
3 The device considers communication ended after a
period of silence of about two seconds, then switches
back to reception. Similarly to the provisions of point 1, it
is possible that the first part of the communications
received, due to the one-way nature of the transmission,
is "cutted"
4 As for points 1 and 3, it is always advisable to inform the
correspondents of the use of VOX function, so that they
can consider their latencies during conversation
To activate the VOX function, press key 10 (VOX function)
for two seconds. The device provides confirmation of the
activation of the function by means of the audio message
"Vox on". At the end of the use of the function, to restore
normal communication with the PTT key, press key 10
again for two seconds: the device confirms that it has been
disconnected by means of the voice message "Vox off".
Scan Function
In certain situations, especially if the correspondents are
divided into groups to which the use of a particular channel
is assigned, it may be useful to have a complete overview
of the communications that take place on all channels.
The SCAN function checks all the input signals, allowing
transmission on the previously selected channel only.
