FLASH KNOT
Let the center of the rope hang over the palm of your right hand (Image 1). The loose end that is hanging down from your
palm we will call end A. The other end hanging down over the back of your hand, is end B. Now you must perform two
movements at the same time: Bend your small nger and your ring nger and press rope end A against your palm. At the
same time, turn your hand with the palm downward and grab rope end B with your index and middle ngers. Now you
can spread out your ring nger and your small nger and let rope end A fall down. In this way, a knot will automatically be
created in the rope.
Tip: When you spread out your pinky and ring ngers, move your hand upward a little at the same time, that way
the knot will slip more easily onto the rope.
DOUBLE KNOTS
How can you tie two knots into one rope while holding onto both ends the whole time? In order to perform this trick, you
must rst practice the lightning knot. Can you do it? Then lets begin! Hold both ends of the rope from your hands with your
palms pointing up, not too closely to the ends. Now make the movements you made for the lightning knot trick with both
hands simultaneously. In this way, you can tie two knots at the same time.
KNOTTED KNOTS
Tie a knot in the rope by tying the right end of the rope to the left end, as shown in Image 2. Do not pull the knot closed
completely, however. Now turn the rope over and tie another knot inside it (Image 3). Now insert the free end of the rope
into the lower knot, as shown in Image 4. Guide the end back again and bring it through the upper knot from the rear
(Images 5 and 6). It will look as though you have tied a complicated knot that could only be undone with great difculty.
All you have to do however, is pull rmly on the rope from both ends and all the knots will disappear as though by magic.
THE KEY AND THE ROPE
For this trick you will need: the rope, an old-fashioned key or a ring. Tell your audience that you will tie a key into a rope
with your hands bound. Ask an audience member to tie the ends of the rope into a loop so that you can wrap the loops
around your wrists. Pull the loop over your hands, with the rest of the rope hanging loosely between your hands. Now
have the audience member take the center of the rope and form a loop, then lead this loop through the head of the key,
as you see in Image 2. The audience member should continue to pull the rope through the key, and then pull the rope
loop over your right wrist (Images 3 and 4). Turn around now and pull this rope loop under the rope loop binding your right
hand (Image 5). Continue to pull the loop over your hand, as shown in image 6. Turn back around now to your audience
members and pull the rope taught between your hands. The key will be tied to the rope hanging between your hands.
