System Fans

The system includes ve 8-cm fans, which are mounted on the rear of the chassis to provide

cooling for the nodes. These fans are hot-swappable and designed to be easily changed,

with no tools required. Each fan cools a pair of adjacent nodes (see Nodes section at the

beginning of this section). Replacement fans may be ordered directly from Supermicro.

Replacing a Fan

1. Inspect the fans or use IPMI to determine which fan must be replaced. Do not run the

server for an extended period of time with a fan removed.

2. Squeeze both release tabs simultaneously on the fan to be removed.

3. Pull the fan module away from the chassis.

4. Place the replacement fan into the vacant space and push in until you hear a click

indicating the fan is fully seated in the chassis.
