11.1. REM
The REM function is mainly used to measure vertical height
of small objects, e.g. high voltage cables and sagging
cables.
Place the prism on the plumb line below the target,
measure the prism height v.
Press 1.REM and 1.INPUT R.HT to input the prism height
(g. c). Press F4 ENT to conrm. Aim at the prism center and
press F1 MEAS to measure the distance (g. e). VD is the
height of the prism.
Aim at target A. You will see the height dierence from
target A to the ground (g. f). To measure a new point,
press F3 HD.
11.2. MLM
The MLM function is mainly used to measure HD / VD / SD
/ HL / HR between any two points. The coordinates of the
points can be recalled from a known or current le, entered
manually or by measurement.
Press 2.MLM in the program menu (g. a) to select the
coordinate le (g. b). Press F4 ENT to select the le and
enter the MLM page (g. c). There are two options, MLM-1
(A-B A-C) and MLM-2 (A-B B-C).
MLM-1 (A-B A-C) is used to measure HD / VD / SD / HL / HR
from starting point A to any point B, C.
MLM-2 (A-B B-C) is used to measure HD / VD / SD / HL / HR
from two dierent points.
11.2.1. MLM-1 (A-B A-C)
A. Calculation by distance measurement
Press 1.MLM-1 (A-B, A-C) to enter step 1 (g. b). Press
F2 R.HT to input the prism height (g. c), press F4 ENT to
conrm. Aim at Target A, press F1 MEAS and enter step 2.
Aim at Target B (g. e) and press F1 MEAS.
The dSD, dHD, dVD and HR from A to B will be displayed
on the screen (g. f).
Press F1 NEXT to repeat step 2 and aim at the center of
point C (g. g). Press F1 MEAS. The values of DSD, dHD,
dVD and HR from point A to C will be displayed (g. h).
Press F1 NEXT to repeat the steps, press ESC to exit.
B. Calculation by recalling coordinates
For example, a coordinate le with 19 control points
„19con.csv“ has been imported into the FIX.LIB le on the
N6 Total Station. The drawing shows a situational map for
points K1, K2 and K3. The side length and the angle can
be calculated inversely based on the coordinates of these
three points.
Use the K1 / K2 / K3 coordinates as A / B / C points to
calculate the edge.
Press 1.MLM-1 (A-B A-C) to enter step 1 (g. b), press F4
LIST to enter the list of points. The cursor will remain on
the rst line of K1 (g. c), press ENT to see the details for
K1 (g. d).
Press F4 YES to go to step-2 (g. e); press F4 LIST and
move the cursor to K2 (g. f). Press ENT to display the K2
coordinates (g. g).
Press YES, the screen will show DSD, dHD, dVD and HR from
A to B (g. h). The dHD and HR values are the same as in
the gure.
10.3. SIDE SHOT
If the view between the occupied point and the stakeout
point is obscured, the user can execute the „Side Shot“ or
„Resection“ command to add the occupied point. Please
see Chapter 6.3. for reference.
Press 4.Side Shot on the rst LAYOUT page to enter the
Side Shot menu (g. a). Input P1 as the point name, aim
at the center of the target. Press F4 MEAS to measure the
coordinates of point P1 (g. c). Then press F4 YES to record
(g. d). Press ESC to return to the LAYOUT menu (g. e).
Move the total station to point P1 and set up the equipment
properly. Press 1.OCC. PT INPUT in the stakeout menu to
display the coordinates of the point occupied last (g. f).
Press F2 LIST to enter the list of points. Move the cursor to
P1 (g. g) and press F4 ENT to see the details (g. h). For
the remaining points, proceed in the same way as in the
previous description.
10.4. RESECTION
Set the device on an unknown point, the system will
calculate coordinates based on distance measurement for
2-7 known points or an angle measurement for 3-7 known
points. Please see chapter 6.4 for reference.
11. PROGRAMS
Press 4.Programs on the rst page of the Menu to access
the system programs. Programs on N6 include REM, MLM,
Z coordinate, area measurement, point to line and road.
This chapter covers all of these programs in detail, with the
exception of the road. The road program will be described
separately.
Press F1 NEXT to repeat step 2 (g. i). Press F4 LIST and
move the cursor to Q3 (g. j), then press ENT to display the
Q3 coordinates (g. k).
Press F4 YES. The dSD, dHD, dVD and HR from A to C will
be displayed (g. i). The dHD and HR values are as shown
in the gure.
11.2.2. MLM-2 (A-B B-C)
A. Calculation by distance measurement
Press 2.MLM-1 (A-B, B-C) to go to step 1 (g. b). Aim at
the prism center at point A (g. b) and press F1 MEAS to
measure the distance and go to step 2.
Aim at the prism center at point B (g. c), press F1 MEAS to
measure the distance. The value of dSD, dHD, dVD and HR
from point A to B will be displayed (g. d).
Press F1 NEXT to repeat step 2. Aim at the center of point C
(g. e). Press F1 MEAS to measure the distance of dSD, dHD
and HR from point B to C. The results will be displayed (g.
f). Press F1 NEXT to repeat the steps.
B. Calculation by recalling coordinates
Press 2. MLM-2 (A-B B-C) to enter step 1. Press F4 LIST to
enter the list of points, the cursor will remain at the rst
known point K1 (g. c).
Press 2.MLM-2 (A-B B-C) to enter step 1 (g. b), press F4
LIST to enter the list of points. The cursor will remain on
the rst line of K1 (g. c), press ENT to see the details for
K1 (g. d).
Press F4 YES to go to step 2 (g. e); Press F4 LIST and
move the cursor to K2 (g. f). Press ENT to display the K2
coordinates (g. g). Press F4 YES, the screen will show the
dSD, dHD, dVD and HR from point A to B (g. h). The dHD
and HR values are the same as in the gure.
Press F1 NEXT to repeat step 2 (g. i). Press F4 LIST and
move the cursor to K3 (g. j), press ENT to display the
coordinates of K3 (g. k). Press F4 YES, the dSD, dHD, dVD
and HR from A to C will be displayed (g. i). The dHD and
HR values are as shown in the gure.
11.3. THE Z COORDINATE
Press 3.Z COORDINATE to enter the coordinate selection
page (g. b). Press F4 ENT to conrm.
Press 1.OCC PT INPUT to input or recall an occupied point.
Press 2.REF MEAS to calculate the Z coordinate inversely
by distance measurement. Using the computed coordinate
replace the current one. Set the backsight reading based
on the directions.
Press 1.OCC PT INPUT in the „Z Coordinate“ menu (g. b).
Step 1 will be displayed on the screen. You can press F1
INPUT or F2 LIST to input or recall an occupied point.
