Diagnosing Troubles
Problem Solution
Optical cable cannot be inserted into the
connector of a control unit.
The type of optical cable may be incorrect.
Optical cables with SC connectors or DSC connectors can be used. Optical cables with S/PDIF
connectors or other types of connectors cannot be used. For details about the connectors, see
“Required Equipment (192-channel system)” (page 12).
Audio is not output or the output is abnormal. • The network cable connecting the control unit and active speaker may be incorrect. Use the
following types of network cables.
– Straight cable
– Category 5, 5e, or 6 (category 6e cannot be used)
• The word clock generator settings or connection may be incorrect. Check the following
points.
– Frequency of the word clock generator is 48 kHz
– Sync signal from the word clock generator is input to each control unit and Player PC
• Check the MADI sync status on the Player PCs. For details, see “Configuring a Player PC”
(page 13, page 17).
• There may be a difference between the connectors used for MADI signal input to a control
unit and the DIP switch settings.
Check whether the MADI 1 IN connector signal or MADI 2 IN connector signal is being used
and the setting of DIP switch 3 on the control unit. If the DIP switch is ON, the MADI 1 IN
connector (BNC) is configured for use. The default setting is OFF (using MADI 2 IN (SC)
connector).
Flip the DIP switch or change the connector used to input the MADI signal.
For details, see “DIP switch 4: To automatically select the MADI signal to output” (page 6).
• The word clock termination setting may be set incorrectly on each control unit.
Set the 75 Ω switch to on for the last control unit within each cascade connection, and set all
others to off.
See “Configuring a Player PC” (page 13, page 17), and check the settings in HDSPe FX
Settings.
For details, see “Typical System Connection” (page 11, page 14).
Cannot log in to a Player PC. The network settings may be incorrect.
• Connect from within the same domain as the Player PC.
• If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.
Only some of the menus can be selected in
Player software.
The Scenario File, Contents, Gain Control, and Room Setup menus cannot be selected if there
is no license applied or if the license has expired.
Check the license status on the License screen of the Player software. If a license is not
registered, registered a valid license.
For details about registering a license, see “Registering a License” (page 18).
Hardware status is not displayed on the
System Status screen of Player software.
• The IP address may be set incorrectly by the DIP switches of a control unit.
See “DIP switches 5 to 8: Setting the IP address of the control unit” (page 6), and check the
IP address setting.
• There may be a problem with the device connections.
See “Typical System Connection” (page 11, page 14), and check the connections.
Forgotten the Player login password. Reset the password using the following procedure.
1. Log in to Windows on the Player PC.
2. Open Command Prompt as an administrator, and execute the following commands.
A> sc stop SSVR_Player_Service
“STATE : 3 STOP_PENDING” is displayed.
B> cd C:\Program Files\Sony\SonicSurfVR\Player
C> ssvr_pl.exe --resetpsw
“Password reset has been succeeded!” is displayed.
D> sc start SSVR_Player_Service
“STATE : 2 START_PENDING” is displayed.
3. Close Command Prompt.
4. Log in to Player using the default password (SsvrFull).
Audio is not output from the speaker
connected to the AES/EBU connector.
Open RME TotalMix FX, and check that the level meter is fluctuating in the AES area.
•
If it is fluctuating, there may be a problem with connections in the system. Check the cables
and connections again.
• If it is not fluctuating, there may be a fault in the Player PC. Contact your Sony service
representative or dealer.
