To do this, place a collecting container under the
carburettor (22) and open the drain plug (23) us-
ing a 10 mm open-end spanner (Fig. 21).
15.6 Maintenance of the air lter (8) (Fig. 15)
m DANGER
Risk of re and explosion!
If not cleaned correctly, fuel may ignite and even
explode. This can lead to severe burns or death.
- Clean the air lter only by knocking it out.
- Never clean the air lter with petrol or amma-
ble solvents.
ATTENTION
Risk of damage!
Operating the engine without a lter element or
with a damaged lter element can cause engine
damage.
- Never run the engine without or with a dam-
aged air lter element. This would allow dirt
into the engine, which would result in severe
damage to the engine.
Contaminated air lters (8) diminish the engine output
due to reduced air supply to the carburettor. Regular
inspection is therefore essential.
The air lter (8) should be checked every 25 operat-
ing hours and cleaned as required. The air lter (8)
must be checked more often if the air is very dusty.
1. Remove the air lter cover and remove the air
lter (8).
2. Clean the air lter (8) only by tapping it.
3. Replace a faulty air lter (8) with a new one.
4. Reinsert the air lter (8) and replace the air lter
cover.
15.7 Spark plug maintenance (g. 17)
Check the spark plug (6) for the rst time after 10
operating hours for soiling and clean
these with a copper wire brush if necessary. Then
maintain the spark plug (6) every 50 operating hours.
1. Remove the spark plug connector with a twist.
2. Remove the spark plug (6) with a spark plug
wrench.
3. Use a feeler gauge to set the gap to 0.75 mm(
0.030”). Ret the spark plug (6) and take care not
to overtighten it.
15.8 Engine brake lever (2) (Fig. 1)
The engine is equipped with a mechanical brake
which has to be checked regularly. When the motor
brake lever (2) is released, the cutting line (11) must
come to a standstill within 7 seconds.
ATTENTION
Product damage!
If the product is operated without or with too little
engine and gear oil, this can lead to engine damage.
- Fill with fuel and oil before commissioning. The
product is supplied without engine and gear-
box oil.
- Only use engine oil SAE 30, 10W-30 or 10W-40.
ATTENTION
Environmental damage!
Spilled oil can pollute the environment permanent-
ly. The liquid is highly toxic and can quickly lead to
water pollution.
- Fill/empty oil only on level, paved surfaces.
- Use a lling nozzle or funnel.
- Collect drained oil in a suitable container.
- Wipe up spilled oil carefully immediately and dis-
pose of the cloth according to local regulations.
- Dispose of oil as per local regulations.
1. Turn the oil dipstick (17) anticlockwise to unscrew
it and wipe it with a clean, lint-free cloth.
2. Reinsert the oil dipstick (17) and check the oil lev-
el without screwing the oil dipstick (17) tight again.
3. Pull the oil dipstick (17) out and read the oil level
in the horizontal position. The oil level must be
positioned between the max. and min. of the oil
dipstick (17).
4. Then screw the oil dipstick (17) in again.
15.4 Oil change
The engine oil should be changed annually before the
start of the season.
must be carried out with the engine at operating tem-
perature and switched o󰀨.
Only use engine oil (SAE30, 10W-30 or 10W-40).
1. Unscrew the oil dipstick (17) by turning it anti-
clockwise.
2. Suck out the engine oil through the ller neck us-
ing an oil pump (with hose).
3. Fill up with fresh engine oil and check the oil level
(see 15.3).
15.5 Drain fuel with a fuel suction pump (Fig. 21)
1. Hold a collection bucket under the hose on the
fuel extraction pump.
2. Unscrew and remove the fuel ller cap (19).
3. Push the hose of the petrol extraction pump into
the fuel tank and drain out the fuel completely
using the petrol extraction pump.
4. Screw the fuel ller cap (19) tight again
5. To ensure that no fuel remains in the carburet-
tor, the remaining fuel must be drained out of the
carburettor.
