Installing the Unit
Connecting Video Equipment Using the S Jack or
Composite Video Jacks
For equipment not equipped with a DV jack, such as a
VHS or
8-mm video deck, you
can make the connection using the S-Video jack or the composite video jacks.
Connecting Video Equipment for Capturing Video
To connect a video device that you want to use for capturing video to edit on the DV-
7DL PRO, follow the connection diagram shown below.
Connecting Video Equipment for Saving Video
To connect a video device for recording sequences you have made on the DV-7DL
PRO, follow the connection diagram shown below.
To prevent malfunction or damage to speakers or other devices, be sure to lower the
volume all the way before switching on the power or making connections to other
equipment.
If the cable run won't be that long, make the connection using an S-Video cable. This
will provide video with a better image quality. Note, however, that if the video cable
needs to be very long, it is better to make the connection using a video (composite)
cable rather than an S-Video cable.
When you are capturing VHS or S-VHS video, it may not be possible to capture a
stable picture (depending on the playback video deck). Use a video deck that can
provide a stable synchronized signal, such as one with a built-in time base corrector
(
TBC).
