2.9 DIP switches – PROFIsafe addresses

The DIP switches are used to set the PROFIsafe addresses of the device for PROFINET

system 1 (F1) and PROFINET system 2 (F2). Figure 2-7 shows the numbering for the

DIP switches and the switch position marking on/off.

Two-pos. DIP switch F3 is reserved.

WARNING:

Since it is possible for two PROFINET/PROFIsafe networks coupled via the safe

PROFINET gateway to cover the same address areas, please take measures to prevent

the RJ45 plugs on the device being mixed up. If this cannot be achieved adequately, the

F-Addresses must be uniquely assigned within the PROFINET/PROFIsafe networks

coupled by the safe PROFINET gateway.

Observe the notes on color coding and security elements for patch cables in “Connecting

the Ethernet interfaces” on page 39 and “Accessories” on page 65.

Notes on the assignment of F-Addresses

The safe PROFINET gateway checks the values of F-Addresses and only accepts

F-Addresses for safety-related operation which satisfy the following conditions:

– F_Dest_Add (PROFINET system 1) ≠ F_Dest_Add (PROFINET system 2)

– F_Source_Add (PROFINET system 1) ≠

F_Source_Add (PROFINET system 2)

The F-Addresses set via DIP switches are applied on power up. Always perform a power

up after making any changes to DIP switch settings.
