5.2 Control terminals
Figure 5-2 Control terminals
The maximum current of all 24V OUT terminals is limited to <100 mA.
The CONTACTRON Speed Starter can be controlled via the two digital inputs
Speed1/R and Speed2/L. To start the motor, the digital input needs to receive a
24 V signal. This can be done in two ways:
Take the 24V OUT signal of the device and connect it to Speed1/R and/or
Speed2/L.
Take a 24 V output from the PLC. In this case the GND needs to be connected to
have the right reference potential.
This is the minimum wiring effort on the control side that needs to be done in order
to start the motor. For further connection possibilities, check the table below.
The digital output (DO) of the CONTACTRON Speed Starter (see
Table 5-1 “Terminal description”) can be used as a signal generator, e.g., to operate
a brake via a coupling relay. However, the maximum current consumption of the
coupling relay must be taken into consideration. This must not exceed the
maximum current of the OUT terminals (<100 mA).
