When treating areas lled with roots,
you will have to repeat treatments sev-
eral times in short periods for lasting
success. After this, longer treatment
intervals will sufce.
With some weeds, you may have to
repeat the treatment.
Be aware that it is not necessary to
burn the plants. Simple heating is
sufcient to dry out the weeds and
thus kill them.
Switching on and off
Switching the tool on:
1. Form a loop from the end of the exten-
sion cable and hook it into the strain
relief (2) provided on the handle (10).
2. Insert the mains plug into a wall power
outlet.
3. Switch on the tool by pressing the On/
Off switch (9).
After approximately 1 minute, the tool
will reach the full operating tempera-
ture.
Switching the tool off:
1. To turn off, release the ON/OFF switch
(9).
2. After using the tool, always place it on
the stand bracket (8) on an even, re-
proof surface until the tool has cooled
down.
3. Remove the mains plug from the power
outlet.
Use of adapter nozzles
Before exchanging adapter
nozzles, the adapter nozzle
(
7/11/12/ 13/14), blow-off pipe (17)
and heat shield (6) must have cooled
down sufciently to avoid burns.
To achieve a quick discharge, the tool
should be placed on the standing bracket
(
8).
Be sure to ventilate the working environ-
ment during rst use. If the smoke/odour
is too strong, move the initial start-up to
outside!
Operation
Working instructions
Weed killer
The conical nozzle (7) is best suited to
remove weeds.
The best time to begin removing weeds
is the spring.
Weed removal is most effective when
the plant is still young.
The success of actions using the tool
will not be immediately visible (see
illustration
).
Depending on the plant type, it may
not respond immediately to the heat for
the recommended exposure time.
- Young, soft-leaved plants are sensi-
tive to the treatment and afterwards
they are no longer viable.
- Hard-leaved grasses are very robust.
They have to be treated more fre-
quently.
- Older plants and plants with hard
leaves, such as thistles, have to be
treated more regularly at 1-2 week
intervals in order to successfully dry
them out.
The visible part of the plant can also
be scorched for a longer exposure time
during treatment.
Scorching the plants is not absolutely
necessary. Heating them dries out the
leaves and any weeds die.
