6. Battery Linking Features
6.4 Linked batteries communicate to ensure that a safe protocol is
followed at all times.
Delivery of current is controlled by the first battery in the stack
(typically the one connected directly to the camera). This battery
remains active, even when it is not delivering current itself. It
makes the most efficient use of the power available and prevents
a transfer of charge between batteries.
As discharge progresses, batteries are electronically added to or
subtracted from the bus bar to deliver the current required.
Linked batteries in a similar state of charge (within 20%),
discharge simultaneously, increasing the maximum continuous
discharge current from 10A to 12A. Sharing the current load
across multiple batteries prolongs individual battery life and
provides a better return on investment.
As long as the first battery remains connected, other batteries
may be added or hot-swapped in order to achieve continuous
running.
