Rack ears
Rack ears (part number RACKKITC) provide rear support
for iKON amplifiers installed in 19-inch racks. We
recommend that you use rack ears for all rack mounted
amplifiers, particularly for touring racks, where the
vibration from movement can place unwanted stresses on
the amplifier chassis if it is only supported at the front.
You can install the rack ears in two ways: removable or
locked. Removable installation allows easy removal of the
amplifier from the rack with no need for access to the
rear:
With locked installation, you attach the amplifier to the
rack at the rear, preventing removal from the front:
For removable installation, you attach amplifier brackets,
attach rack brackets and then slot the two brackets
together.
For locked installation, you attach amplifier brackets and
then attach these brackets to the rear rack strip. With this
method, you don't use the rack brackets.
Requirements
The amplifier rack must have 19-inch rack strip at the
front and rear. For removable installation, the depth
between front and rear is relatively unimportant as the
rack bracket allows for up to 180 mm of variation. For
locked installation, the slots in the amplifier bracket
allow up to 25mm of variation.
Four standard 19-inch rack cage nuts and fixing screws
(most commonly M6 in Europe) to attach the brackets
to the rear rack strip.
A Pozidriv PZ1 screwdriver.
A suitable screwdriver for the rack screws.
A small pair of pliers or a 7 mm spanner.
To attach the amplifier brackets
1. Remove the two screws shown below. You can discard
these screws.
