▪ Channel 4 output is duplicated on terminals 2+ and 2–
of connection 3.
With iK41, iK42 and iK81 bi-amp wiring you connect two
loudspeakers using one 4-core cable as follows:
The iK81 has four bi-amp outputs with each speakON
connector carrying two amplifier outputs. This means that
for the iK81, you always use bi-amp wiring.
Bridge mode
If you bridge (page 26) a pair of amplifier channels, you
connect to terminals 1+ and 2+ as follows:
For the iK41 and iK42, this applies to connectors 1 and 3.
For the iK81, this applies to all four connectors.
Bridge mode example
In this example, an iK42 is powering two SXH218 subs in
bridge mode, with one breakout cable to the first sub and
a second cable between the subs:
▪ The breakout cable has two speakON connectors at
one end for the iK42 and one speakON connector at
the other end for the first SXH218.
▪ The speakON connectors for the iK42 plug into
connectors 1 and 3.
▪ The cable between the subs runs from the link
connector of the first SXH218 to the input connector
of the second SXH218.
▪ The first SXH218 is powered by iK42 channels 1 and
2. The second SXH218 is powered by iK42 channels 3
and 4.
The connections for the breakout cable are as follows:
▪ iK42 connector 1 terminal 1+ to SXH218 input
terminal 1+.
▪ iK42 connector 1 terminal 2+ to SXH218 input
terminal 1–.
▪ iK42 connector 3 terminal 1+ to SXH218 input
terminal 2+.
▪ iK42 connector 3 terminal 2+ to SXH218 input
terminal 2–.
Load matching
Each output of the device can be optimised to drive either
a low impedance load (2, 3, 4, 6 or 8ohms) or a constant
voltage (25V, 70V or 100V line).
With the low impedance settings, it's not critical that the
setting matches the impedance of the connected load,
but if it does, this will maximise the power that is available
for the load.
The constant voltage settings specify the maximum RMS
voltage that the amplifier will produce.
To choose the load matching, use the Drive load on the
Output menu (page 24).
