INSTALLATIONOIL GUARDIAN
™
To wire the Oil Guardian, proceed as follows:
When the optional light tower must be installed, include the
light tower power cable in the bundle of cables. For further
mounting instructions of the light tower see Light Tower.
1. Feed the cables through the appropriate cable glands.
2. Route the cables to the front of the Oil Guardian through the cable
trunks on the bottom of the unit.
3. Connect the cables in the control box in accordance with the sticker
inside the door.
4. Install the cable glands.
5. Mount the right side panel.
6. Mount an appropriate plug to the mains cord.
7. Connect the Oil Guardian to the input power.
The test/reset button (See Figure A21, Item L) is used to check that all
LEDs function properly and that all motors are running. This test takes
5 seconds.
Keep away from all moving parts inside the unit to prevent
serious personal injury.
Testing
To test the unit, proceed as follows:
1. Open the door of the Oil Guardian.
2. Press the test/reset button.
3. Check LEDs and that all three motors are functioning.
The direction of rotation of all three motors must be checked. For
this purpose, they are provided with an arrow on the housing indi-
cating the correct direction.
4. Check the direction of rotation of all three motors.
5. If necessary: invert the connection of the phases.
Light Tower (optional)
An external light tower can be installed as an additional warning
device. It must be clearly visible from a distance.
To install the light tower, proceed as follows:
1. Remove input power.
2. Install the light tower at an appropriate position.
3. Route the cable through the front of the Oil Guardian to the inside
the unit.
4. Connect the cable in the control box in accordance with the sticker
on the inside of the door.
5. Install the cable gland.
Function and Settings
The amount of limestone depends on the size of the connected filter
system. This is arranged by a time controlled screw conveyor. The
applicable time settings must be programmed in the PLC which is
located in the control box inside the door.
Depending on the type of Oil Guardian you are using, the unit is
equipped with either a Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLC.
To program the amount of limestone, proceed as follows:
For steps 1-3, see Figure 22.
1. Check the type of PLC.
2. In case of a PLC type Siemens, proceed with PLC: Siemens instruc-
tions.
3. In case of a PLC type Allen-Bradley Micro830, proceed with PLC:
Allen-Bradley Micro830 instructions.
