DTP CrossPoint 4K Series Matrix Switchers • Introduction 3
Setup of the IPCP control processor, built into IPCP models, requires Extron Global Configurator Plus or Global
Configurator Professional, available for download from the Extron website if you have an Extron Insider account.
The IPCP offers Ethernet control of external devices and provides RS-232 and IR-based control, relays, and
digital I/O controls that can control and monitor a variety of external devices, such as projectors and lights.
The switcher is housed in a rack-mountable, metal enclosure with mounting flanges for a standard 19-inch rack.
The appropriate rack mounting kit is included with the switcher.
DTP CrossPoint 108 4K and DTP CrossPoint 86 4K — 3U high
DTP CrossPoint 84 4K and DTP CrossPoint 82 4K — 2U high
The switcher has an internal 100 VAC to 240 VAC, 50-60 Hz,180 watts power supply that provides worldwide
power compatibility.
DTP Input and Output Signals
The DTP inputs and outputs are proprietary signals that are created within any of the Extron DTP Extender
systems and transmitted over a single shielded twisted pair (STP) cable.
The DTP CrossPoint accepts DTP inputs from transmitting devices such as the DTP T USW 333. Depending on
the connected transmitting model, the transmitter generates the DTP signal from a variety of video and audio
inputs, including HDMI, DVI, analog VGA, and embedded and analog audio. The DTP signal can also include
bidirectional RS-232 and IR control signals from the connected transmitting and receiving devices or inserted
locally, on the DTP CrossPoint switcher.
Depending on the range of the transmitting or receiving device, the DTP inputs and outputs can each travel up to
330 feet (100 meters) or 230 feet (70 meters) without a loss of signal integrity.
The TP inputs and outputs also support RS-232 insertion and dedicated universal asynchronous receiver/
transmitters (UARTs).
Definitions
The following terms apply to all Extron matrix switchers and are used throughout this guide:
Paired outputs — Outputs that include two connectors: an HDMI connector and an

RJ-45 (TP) connector (such as output 5A and 5B on the DTP CrossPoint 108 4K).
The paired signal outputs are duplicated between the HDMI (A) and TP (B)
connectors.
Scaled outputs — Outputs that are either TP-only or paired.
TieAn input-to-output video connection, line audio connection, or both.
Set of tiesAn input tied to two or more outputs. (An output can never be tied to more than one input.)
Configuration — One or more ties or sets of ties. The “configuration” also can include some or all of the
signal processor settings that can be made in the DSP Configurator program.
Current configuration — The configuration that is currently active in the switcher (also called
configuration 0 [zero]).
