Adjusting the presser foot pressure

The factory-set presser foot pressure on the machine is suitable for medium weight fabrics.

It is not necessary to change the presser foot pressure for most of the fabrics to be sewn. If lighter or

heavier fabrics are sewn, it may be necessary to readjust the pressure.

In this case, insert the small screwdriver into the presser foot pressure adjustment screw. The

pressure is adjusted by turning the screw to the left or right. For light fabrics, reduce pressure by

turning the screw to the left. For heavy fabrics, increase the pressure by turning the adjustment

screw clockwise.

Note: turn the screw clockwise until it stops against the top cover. Then, turn the screw

counterclockwise by 6 turns.

Dierential feed

The dierential feed consists of two feed dogs (A+B), arranged one behind the other, which are

responsible for moving the fabric. The dierential feed switch regulates the movement of the front

feed dog (A) and thus the amount of fabric to be pulled. It can be adjusted between 0.7 and 2.0.

The standard setting is 1.0, so the front feed dog (A) moves synchronously with the rear feed dog (B).

In other words, the latter move the same amount of fabric.

Note: the eciency of the dierential feed also depends on the stitch length selected and the type

of fabric used.

If the dierential feed switch is set to 0.7, the front feed dog moves half as fast as the rear one, i.e. the front one pulls only half as much fabric as

the rear one. As a result, the fabric is stretched.

This prevents seam puckering when sewing very delicate fabrics such as silk and taeta. The result is a smooth seam (A).

Fashionable touches can also be introduced, such as the wave eect when using rib knit (B).

Set the dierential feed switch to 2.0 so that the front feed dog moves twice as fast as the rear feed dog. That is to say, the front feed dog drags

twice as much fabric as the rear feed dog. As a result, the fabric is gathered.
