STone
Development environment designed to manage every stage of HVAC/R
software development, STone allows a team of professionals to work
together on the same project, increasing the e ciency of everyone
involved through ow- and team-based development. STone can
be used to manage source les and features through version control
software (e.g. GIT).
Development environment:
• STone: environment for developing the application program and
the user interface for semi-graphic displays, de ning con gurations,
inputs/outputs, client/server protocols, default parameter
values, data logger, network address management and users.
Programming environment features:
- total independence of the programming logic from the hardware
and devices connected to the network;
- IEC 61131 compliant ST (structured text) language available;
- management of 32- and 64-bit data types, oating point, arrays and
native structures;
- debugging on target via USB or Ethernet port.
- Availability of a complete test suite: Unit testing, automatic tests and
non-regression tests
Command line tools:
• Sparkly;
- program the controller by loading the application program;
- write individual parameters and/or parameter con gurations.
Commissioning tool:
• Applica desktop:
- commissioning;
- unit maintenance.
All the aspects related to strengthening controller cybersecurity and
the protection of personal data are the customer’s responsibility
(manufacturer, designer or installer of the nal equipment).
Model identi cation
The development tool used to program the controllers - 1tool or STone -
can be identi ed as shown below.
Identi cation code on the product label.
On pCO5+, if digit 6 of the part number is:
• B = 1tool operating system
• T = STone operating system

Built-in 7-segment display (on models where available).
At power on, the controller will show a di erent letter for a few seconds,
depending on the operating system installed:
• “B” -> 1tool operating system
• “S” -> STone operating system

Caution: the two operating systems are not compatible. Therefore,
speci c controllers need to be used depending on the development tool.
1.2 Applications
When provided with a dedicated application program, the same
controller can be used to control equipment of di erent kinds:
• chillers and heat pumps;
• roof-top units;
• air-conditioners;
• small/medium-sized air handling units (on request);
• refrigerated counters (on request and to speci cations);
• cold rooms (on request and to speci cations);
• curing rooms;
• compressor racks;
• universal stage controllers.
Notice: to ensure con dentiality and prevent possibly dangerous
changes to the parameter settings, it is recommended to protect access
with a su ciently complex password, which can be changed if necessary.
To improve security, it is recommended to enable temporary access
prevention after repeated incorrect password attempts (e.g. 5 attempts).
It is also recommended to pro le access rights based on the user's role,
for example:
• Operator: read-only access only to the required data, preventing
access to sensitive data and functions;
• Con gurator: aaccess to device functions, access to sensitive data and
function settings;
• Administrator: access to all device functions.
