Chapter 1: Getting Started
...
3. Using the Operation Panel
❏ ON LINE and OFF LINE
Press the
ON LINE
key to toggle between the ON LINE state and the OFF LINE state.
ON LINE state: The printer is ready to start a print job and waiting for commands from the computer.
The ON LINE light is blinking or lit.
OFF LINE state: The printer does not accept commands or print data from the computer. The ON
LINE light is off.
When the printer is printing data, press the
ON LINE
key to suspend the job temporarily. The printer
will not receive any more data from the computer. Press the
ON LINE
key again, to restart printing.
❏ STOP and RESET
The
STOP/RESET
key has three functions as shown below.
Emergency stop: While the printer is printing, pressing the
STOP/RESET
key prints data to the
end of the current paper and cancel the data now being printed.
Deletion of one piece of data:
While the printer is printing, pressing the
ON LINE
key stops printing tempo-
rarily and places the printer in the offline state. Then, pressing the
STOP/RESET
key for a short time resets (deletes) one piece of data currently being printed.
Pressing the
ON LINE
key again restarts printing the remaining data.
Deletion of all data: In the OFF LINE state, keep pressing the
STOP/RESET
key for about 3 seconds
resets the data now being received as well as all the data that has already been
received.
❏ Using the
FEED
key
When the printer is in the OFF LINE state, pressing the
FEED
key for one second or longer forces the
printer to advance the paper toward the ejecting direction for as long as the key is held down.
