PHS unit
You can lift open the PHS unit
when the PHS unit lock handle is
in the Unlock position.
BJ Linehead
BJ Linehead is mounted here.
Do not touch the "spur" section.
Conveyer belt
Conveys paper at high speed.
Clean it when you see paper
dust or ink smudges on the
belt (see the User's Guide,
Chapter 4: Maintenance).
Ink cartridges
Ink cartridges of six colors are installed here.
Y (Yellow), LM (Light Magenta), M (Magenta),
LC (Light Cyan), C (Cyan), Bk (Black) (from
left to right)
Feeder cover
Open this cover to remove paper jammed
within the feeder mechanism.
Feeder tray lift switch
Press this button to move the card
feeder up and down.
PHS unit lock handle
When this handle is in the Lock position, the
PHS unit is locked and can not be opened.
When you close the front cover, make sure
that the PHS unit is closed and the handle is
in the Lock position. The cover cannot be
shut otherwise.
Lock Unlock
● Do not touch the main power switch to cut the power off, when printing a job. The BJ
Linehead protection will fail to work properly, and it may lead to a breakdown.
Before cutting the power off, first press the
POWER
key on the operation panel. Make sure
that the printer is back into the Power saving mode, then turn off the main power switch.
● Do not open the front cover when the printer is in the Normal mode. An error message will
appear on the operation panel display, and the printer will go into the non-operative state.
● Move the PHS unit slowly to open and close it. Moving it with too much force or giving it
shock may lead to breakdown or deterioration in the output quality.
