CAUTION:
Always pay attention to the storage instructions on
the sales packaging.
The 4-star freezer compartment enables frozen food
to be stored at -18°C or colder for several months.
Suitable for freezing fresh food and making ice cu-
bes.
To avoid contamination of food, the following instruc-
tions must be observed:
• If the appliance door is opened for a longer period
of time, this can lead to a considerable rise in
temperature inside the appliance.
• Clean regularly surfaces that can come in contact
with food and accessible drainage systems (see
“Cleaning and maintenance”
).
• Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in
the refrigerator, so that it is not in contact with or
drip onto other food.
• Two-star frozen-food compartments are suit-
able for storing pre-frozen food, storing or making
ice-cream and making ice-cubes.
• One- , two- or three-star compart-
ments are not suitable for the freezing of fresh
food.
• If the appliance is out of use for a long period,
follow the instructions under
"Switching off"
.
Freezing
• Observe the maximum freezing quantity. The
permitted quantity per 24 hours can be found in
the enclosed product data sheet. Exceeding this
amount can impair the freezing performance and
the quality of stored frozen food.
• Quick freezing fresh food. Lowering the tempera-
ture quickly prevents the formation of large ice
crystals and protects the structure and quality of
the food.
• Maintain sufficient gaps. Sufficient space should
be left between the individual frozen items to al-
low cold air to circulate freely and ensure even
cooling.
Storing frozen food
• Store frozen products in accordance with the
manufacturer's instructions. Packaged commer-
cial goods should be stored in accordance with
the recommended storage conditions on the
packaging to ensure quality and shelf life.
• Avoid defrosting after purchase. Frozen goods
should be returned to the freezer as soon as pos-
sible after transportation to ensure a continuous
cold chain and avoid loss of quality.
• Observe the storage period depending on the
product. The recommended storage period varies
depending on the type of product. Precise infor-
mation can be found on the packaging and should
be adhered to.
General protective measures
• Do not freeze bottles and cans. Liquids expand
when they freeze. This can cause containers to
burst or even explode, especially in the case of
carbonated drinks.
• Do not refreeze defrosted food. Defrosting can
impair quality. Refreezing is only permitted if the
products have been fully heated and processed
beforehand.
• Do not consume frozen food directly. Direct con-
sumption, for example of ice cream or frozen fruit,
can cause cold damage to the mouth.
• Avoid contact with cold metal parts. Metal surfac-
es in the freezer compartment can cause frostbite
if they come into contact with damp or sensitive
skin. Food should always be removed with dry
hands.
Packing frozen food
Suitable food-grade packaging should be used for
each food item to ensure quality and shelf life during
frozen storage.
