This section describes how to install and commission the Extension Card 2.0 (EC 2.0):
1. Disconnect connections
Disconnect all cable connections from the device.
2. Open DSP / DSP amplier
Open the device by removing the side panel with the Extension Card 2.0 input and the bottom plate, as described in
the user manual of your specic DSP model.
3. Prepare the side panel
Remove the cover panel of the EC 2.0 from the previously removed side panel by loosening the two Allen screws
on the back. Now t the new cover panel supplied with the EC 2.0. Ensure correct alignment and tighten the screws
hand-tight only.
4. Prepare EC 2.0
ATTENTION: Before the initial start-up of the module, the basic input sensitivity setting and the load conguration of
the highlevel input must be adjusted to match the output voltage of the connected signal source in order to achieve
the best possible signal quality and prevent damage to the module, DSP device, or sound system.
Additionally, we recommend conguring the Auto Remote function at this stage.
We recommend measuring the maximum output voltage of the signal source using an appropriate measuring device
or contacting your authorized Audiotec Fischer dealer.
If you are unsure, we recommend setting the input sensitivity switch (page 9, point 4) to 30 V / 8 V and removing the
load jumper (page 9, point 5).
a. Basic input sensitivity setting
The input sensitivity switch (page 9, point 4) is used to set the input sensitivity for the highlevel and line input, based
on the output voltage of your signal source.
The factory setting is 11 V (highlevel) and 3.5 V (line), which is suitable in most cases.
If your signal source provides a higher output voltage – for example, if a factory-installed amplier serves as signal
source – the switch must be set to 30 V / 8 V, and the correct conguration of the load jumper (see point b) must be
checked.
Fine-tuning of the input sensitivity is done later in the DSP PC-Tool software (page 11, point 8).
b. Set the load for the highlevel input
This adjustment is only necessary when connecting a signal source with an output voltage between 11 V and 30 V
to the highlevel input (page 9, point 3) – for example, a premium sound system amplier with more than 50 W RMS
output power – and the input sensitivity switch must be set to 30 V / 8 V.
For standard applications – such as connecting an OEM or aftermarket radio with a maximum output voltage of 4 V
RMS – no adjustment is necessary.
The load of the highlevel input can be adjusted by installing or removing the load jumper (page 9, point 5). To remove
the jumper, simply pull it straight upward.
Switch position input sensitivity Load jumper conguration
11 V / 3,5 V Jumper installed (by default)
30 V / 8 V Jumper removed
c. Congure the Auto Remote function
If the highlevel input of the module is used as the primary or only signal input, the automatic turn-on function can be
activated using the Auto Remote switch (page 9, point 6) – Auto Remote = On.
This function will turn on and o the whole device together with the signal source via the highlevel input.
Note: The Auto Remote function is disabled by default (Auto Remote = O).
As soon as a signal source is solely connected to the modules line input, it is mandatory to connect the remote input
of the device to power up the amplier / DSP.
