Use of microphones without phantom power
Normally, no change to the phantom power is necessary.
For all common measurement microphones – including the Beyerdynamic MM1 (included in the AMI Tuning Kit) as well
as the MTK1 microphone – the phantom power on the AMI must be set to “On”. This is the default factory setting and
is correct for most applications.
An adjustment is only necessary in exceptional cases, such as when using passive microphones that do not require
phantom power. In such cases, the phantom power can be deactivated via an internal switch on the AMI:
1. Turn the AMI over and remove the two screws on the bottom of the housing.
2. Pull up the top cover. The circuit board and side panels can now be carefully removed from the housing.
3. On the circuit board, locate the small “Phantom Power” toggle switch. Slide it to the “O” position to disable phantom
power.
4. Reinsert the circuit board and the side panels into the housing and fasten the bottom cover with the screws
Note: During reassembly, make sure the circuit board is correctly aligned and take care not to damage any components.
Tighten the screws only hand-tight to avoid overtightening or damaging the housing.
4. Initial start-up
