ELECTRICAL SAFETY
DOUBLE-INSULATED APPLIANCES
In a double-insulated appliance, two systems of insulation
are provided instead of grounding. No grounding means
is provided on a double-insulated appliance, nor should a
means for grounding be added to the appliance. Servicing
a double-insulated appliance requires extreme care and
knowledge of the system, and should be performed only by
qualified service personnel at an authorized dealer.
Replacement parts for a double-insulated appliance must
be identical to the parts they replace. A double-insulated
appliance is marked with the words“Double Insulation” or
“Double Insulated.” The symbol (square within a square) may
also be marked on the appliance.
This electric tool is double-insulated, eliminating the need for
a separate grounding system. Use only identical replacement
parts. Read the instructions before servicing double- insulat-
ed appliances. Use this tool only as described in this manual.
EXTENSION CORDS
See Figure 1.
When using a power tool at a considerable distance from a
power source, be sure to use an extension cord that has the
capacity to handle the current the product will use. An under-
sized cord will cause a drop in line voltage. This can result in
overheating and loss of power. Use the chart to determine
the minimum wire size required in an extension cord. Only
round jacketed cords listed by Underwriter’s Laboratories
(UL) should be used.
When working outdoors with a product, use an extension
cord that is designed for outside use. This type of cord is
designated with “WA” or “W” on the cord’s jacket. Be sure
to use a heavy guage (A.W.G.) wire for the product based
on the chart below. If in doubt, use the next heavier gauge.
(smaller gauge numbers equal heavier cords). Using an un-
dersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage and result in
loss of power and overheating.

**Used on 12 gauge – 20 amp circuit.
NOTE: AWG - American Wire Gauge
Before using any extension cord, inspect it for loose or ex-
posed wires and cut or worn insulation.
It is possible to tie the extension cord and power cord in a
knot to prevent them from becoming disconnected during
use. See Figure 1. Make the knot. Connect the plug end of the
power cord into the receptacle end of the extension cord. This
method can also be used to tie two extension cords together.
WARNING
Keep the extension cord clear of
the working area. Position the cord so that it will not
get caught on lumber, tools, or other obstructions while
working with a power tool. Failure to do so can result in
serious personal injury.
WARNING
Inspect extension cords before
each use. If damaged, replace the extension cord im-
mediately. Never use the product with a damaged cord.
Contact with the damaged area could cause an electri-
cal shock and result in serious injury.
