OPERATION
WARNING
Always wear eye protection with side
shields marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so
could result in objects being thrown into your eyes resulting
in possible serious injury.
WARNING
Do not use any attachments or ac-
cessories not recommended by the manufacturer of this
product. The use of attachments or accessories not recom-
mended can result in serious personal injury.
WARNING
Always disconnect the tool from the
power supply when assembling parts, making adjustments,
cleaning, or when not in use. This will prevent accidental
starting that could cause serious personal injury.
NOTICE
Before each use, inspect the entire product
for damaged, missing, or loose parts such as screws, nuts,
bolts, caps, etc. Tighten securely all fasteners and caps and
do not operate this product until all missing or damaged
parts are replaced. Please contact customer service.
CONNECTING TO POWER SUPPLY
This product is designed with a cord retainer that prevents the
extension cord from coming loose while in use.
1. Form a loop with the extension cord.
2. Insert the loop of the extension cord through the opening on the
back of the top handle.
3. Place the loop over the hook. Pull on the cord to reduce the slack
and secure it over the hook.
4. Plug the power cord into the extension cord.
NOTE: Removing excess cord slack will help prevent the plug
from loosening from the extension cord.
STARTING AND STOPPING THE TOOL
WARNING
Overload protection will activate in
the following circumstances:
z The cutting disc is clogged with shredded material.
z The material loaded in the chute is too large.
z There is too much resistance against the cutting disc.
When the overload protection is activated, turn off the tool
and disconnect the power supply.
z After turning off the tool and disconnecting from the power
supply, use the locking knob to open the motor housing.
z Remove the debris or obstruction from the cutting area.
z Close the motor housing and lock it close with the locking knob.
z Reconnect to the power supply and press the power button to
turn on the tool.
To start the motor:
z Connect the tool to the power supply.
NOTICE
Always secure the extension cord to the unit
by using the power cord retainer. Failure to use the power
cord retainer may result in damage to the tool and/or exten-
sion cord.
z Press the switch to start the motor.
To stop the motor:
z Press the switch to turn off the motor.
z Disconnect the tool from the power supply.
USING THE PADDLE
The paddle (included) is to provide assistance for pushing smaller
materials into the chute.
WARNING
Never put any body parts into the
chute. Dismemberment, serious injury, or death can occur.
z Load materials into the chute.
z Insert the paddle in the chute to push materials into the blade.
NOTE: Wait until all material has been shredded before adding more
material in the chute.
OPERATING TIPS
WARNING
Never use the tool on a rooftop or
other unstable surface. This can result in death or serious
personal injury
WARNING
Do not wear loose clothing, scarves,
or jewelry. They can be caught in moving parts and cause
death or serious personal injury.
WARNING
Be sure the area to be cleared is free
of stones, sticks, wires, gravel, and other objects that could
be accidentally thrown by the tool in any direction and cause
serious personal injury to the operator and others.
WARNING
Never reach into the feeding chute when
the unit is operating or when the unit is plugged in. Always
be sure all moving parts have stopped and the tool has been
unplugged before clearing any obstructions. Failure to follow
these instructions can result in serious personal injury.
z Be sure tha thte feeding chute is clear and empty before use.
z Always use the paddle to push items through the housing.
z Do not force materials larger than 1.75 in. through the housing.
z Maintain balance and proper footing at all times. Do not overreach.
Never stand at a level higher than the base of the tool.
z Be sure to stand away from the discharge chute. Never reach
under the shredder until is has stopped completely.
z Do not put any metal, rocks, bottles, cans, cloth, or other foreign
objects into the chute.
