Step 2 - Suboor considerations
To prevent excessive heat loss through the oor, the Foil heater may only
be laid over insulated suboors.
The suboor must be solid, structurally sound and dimensionally stable.
Ensure the suboor is prepared to an SR1 surface regularity. If necessary
an appropriate smoothing or levelling compound should be applied.
Suboors previously covered in vinyl, cork or carpeting: all old
ooring and glues must be removed.
Any materials on or within the suboor must be suitable
for supporting electric underoor heating systems. If using
temperature sensitive materials beneath the Foil heater, such as
damp proong or tanking systems, contact the manufacturer for
advice.
Ensure timber suboors are prepared in accordance with national
standards and manufacturer instructions are properly followed to
avoid suboor movement to prevent any damage to the system.
Do not commence installation of the Foil heater without ensuring
that the resulting oor construction will meet the requirements of
the oors intended use and its nish.
