COOKING TECHNIQUES
1. Arrange food carefully. Position the thicker parts towards the outside of the plate.
2. Check the cooking time. Cook for a shorter time than indicated and add more if necessary.
Overcooked food can smoke or catch fire.
3. Cover food while cooking. The lids prevent splashing and help cook food evenly.
4. Cover the food with the microwave food film or with a lid of the right size for the container. Cover
foods such as fish, vegetables, soups. Do not cover cakes, sauces, whole potatoes with peel
and pastry.
5. Turn food once during microwave cooking to speed up cooking of foods such as chicken and
burgers. Foods as large as roasts should be turned at least once.
6. To ensure more even cooking, halfway through cooking, rearrange food such as meatballs inside
the dish.
7. Regularly shaped foods cook evenly. Microwaved foods cook best if placed in a round container
rather than a square one.
8. All liquids should be mixed before, during and after heating. In particular, the water must be
mixed before and during heating to prevent leakage from the vessel. Do not heat liquids that
have already been boiled before. Do not overheat.
9. It is essential to check the food during and after the recommended cooking times, (just as you
would check cooking in a traditional oven). If necessary, put the food back in the oven to continue
cooking.
TYPE OF TOOLS TO BE USED
1. The microwave cannot penetrate the metal. Use only tools suitable for use in microwave ovens.
Metal containers for food and beverages are not allowed during microwave cooking.
2. Metal tools or plates with metallic finishes must not be used.
3. Do not use recycled paper products, as they may contain small metal fragments that could cause
sparks and/or fires.
4. Round/oval plates are recommended rather than square/oblong, as the food in the corners tends
to overcook.
5. Do not use melamine containers. Never use margarine containers or yogurt jars, because they
dissolve with the heat of food. If heat resistant, they can be used for cooking in grill mode.
6. The transparent food film retains the moisture of the food, and the retained condensation
promotes faster cooking of the food. However, this film must also be perforated before cooking
to allow excess moisture to escape. Always use extreme caution when removing the transparent
film from freshly cooked food, as the temperature of the steam formed inside will be very high.
Always buy food film specifically designed for microwave cooking and only use it to cover food.
Never line the plate with film. Do not cover food when cooking in grill or combination mode.
The following list is a general guide to select the correct tools, always refer to the instructions on the
