THE ASTONISHING GROWING ROPE
You will need a long rope, and two short ropes, scissors. If you do not want to cut the rope included in your magic set,
you can use any other rope. Before the performance, place the long rope in the shape of a “Z” in front of you on the table.
Wrap both pieces of short rope around the bends of the long rope (Image 2). Now tie all three rope ends together. The
knots should conceal the spots where the short rope is hung on the long rope (Image 3). Take the rope in such a way
that it looks as though you were holding three ropes of equal length tied to both ends in your hands (Image 4). Show your
audience the ropes and untie one of the knots. Now you can show that you are holding three loose ends in your hand.
Tie the short piece of rope around the long piece. For your audience however, it will look as though you were tying two
ropes of equal length together. Repeat the same action with the knot in your other hand. At the end, you should have tied
both short pieces of rope over the long rope. If you wrap the rope around your right hand, you can secretly pull out the
short pieces of rope with your left hand (Image 6). Keep the pieces of rope hidden in your left hand. Blow on the rope that
is wound around your st. Now drop the rope at one end and reveal to your astonished audience that one long rope has
been formed from three!
THE RESTORED ROPE
Begin by showing your audience that you are holding a normal rope in your hands. Take both rope ends in your left hand
(Image 1), with the back of your hand facing the crowd. With your right hand take the center of the rope that is hanging
down and loop it over your left hand. At the time as you make the loop on your palm, secretly grab one of the two rope
ends between your thumb and middle nger and pull a new loop through the loop that you have just taken in your hand
(Images 2 and 3). Now you should be holding a new loop in your left hand, in which the actual center of the rope is
hanging. To your audience, this new loop should be visible over your left palm (Image 4). Thus it will appear as though
you are holding the center of the rope in the loop above your hand. If you cut the small additional rope loop with scissors
(Images 4 and 5), you will not be cutting the rope in the middle, as your audience believes. In reality, you are only cutting a
couple inches off the long rope. That way, you can still present an intact long rope to your audience. Keep the short piece
you have cut off hidden in your hand (Image 6).
ROPE THROUGH THE NECK
Take the rope and lay it around your neck so that the ends hang down your back over your shoulders. Now pretend as
though you were crossing the ends of the rope behind your throat. Actually, you should insert a short section of pieces of
the rope into the neck of your T-shirt. Pull the right end of the rope over your right shoulder and the left end over your left
shoulder, and tie a knot in the rope in front of your neck. To your audience, it will look as though you have wrapped the
rope once around your neck and then tied a knot. With your right hand, grab the knot in front your neck and jerk the rope
forward. It will now seem as though you have pulled a knotted rope through your neck!
MAGIC KNOTS
Loop the rope several times around your left hand, as shown in Images 1 to 5. Now insert the free end of the rope through
the rope loops (Image 6) and transfer the rope from your left hand to your right. Take the end of the rope pointing out on
the left side with your left hand and the downward hanging rope end with your right hand, and pull the two ends apart
(Images 8 to 11). In one pull, several knots will magically appear one after the other.
