spectator thinks that they only have one ball in their hand. Take the other ball from the table with your left hand and act as
if you put it in your right hand, but in reality keep the ball in your left hand. Open your right hand and ask the spectator to
also open their hand; the ball from your hand has disappeared and has magically appeared in their hand.
CONFUSING CARDS
For this trick you will use three cards but the audience believes that you use only two. Place the normal ten of hearts into
your jacket pocket before the trick starts. When you are ready to perform the trick, use the normal ten of spades and the
card that has the ten of hearts on one side and a secret ten of spades on the back. This is known as a double faced card.
Show the audience the ten of spades and the ten of hearts and place them out of sight — under the table or behind your
back, but do not drop them! Turn the double faced card over so that the ten of spades is now showing and bring it out,
displaying this face only, then put it into the pocket that has the normal ten of hearts in it. Ask which card is where and the
audience will be surprised when you remove the ten of spades from under the table and the (normal) ten of hearts from
your pocket. The two cards may now be shown quite freely as they are both normal.
THE CARDS CHANGE PLACE
Take the double faced card and the double backed card. Turn the cards over and place them quickly one against the other.
The audience will think the cards are normal. Now hide the Ten of Spades (double face) under the table. The audience will
think of course that the Ten of Hearts has remained on the table. Turn over the card that is under the table and pull it out:
it appeared to be the Ten of Hearts. Place the cards again as before and show them to the audience.
WHERE IS THE TEN OF SPADES?
Take the normal ten of spades with an ordinary backside, the ten of spades with ten of hearts on the other side, and the
normal ten of hearts with an ordinary backside. Hide the normal ten of hearts card under the table and show the other two
cards. Cover the cards with a handkerchief. Take the double-face card out, but show it as if it was the ten of spades card
with an ordinary back. Put this card under the table and change it quickly for the normal ten of hearts card. The audience
will think that the ten of hearts under the handkerchief, and that the ten of spades card is under the table. Take off the
handkerchief and show the card from under the table. The audience may examine everything, if they want.
FROM COIN TO BANKNOTE
Take the double-back card from your set. Beforehand stick a banknote to one side of the card. Then ask a spectator to
stick a coin to the other side. Cover the whole card with a handkerchief ipping the card as you do so. Then reveal the
card, and your audience will believe that the coin has changed into a banknote. This trick will only be funny if you do it
fast enough.
DEVALUATION
You will need the double backed card from your magic set. Beforehand, tape a coin of lower value (for example a nickle).
Keep this side of the card out of the sight of your audience, when you show them the card. On the other side of the card,
tape a coin of greater value (for example a quarter). Cover the card with a handkerchief and turn the card rapidly. You can
also do this trick without handkerchief, by turning the card rapidly under the table.
