Installation and Setup

This chapter provides instructions on installing and replacing user-replaceable components.

To prevent compatibility issues, use only components that match the specications or parts

qualied by Supermicro.

Up to twenty blade modules may be installed into a blade enclosure. Blade modules with

di󰀨erent operating systems, such as Windows and Linux, may be mixed together in the same

blade enclosure.

2.1 Unpacking the System

Inspect the box the system was shipped in and note if it was damaged in any way. If any

equipment appears damaged, please le a damage claim with the carrier who delivered it.

Decide on a suitable location for the rack unit that will hold the enclosure. It should be situated

in a clean, dust-free area that is well ventilated. Avoid areas where heat, electrical noise and

electromagnetic elds are generated. It will also require a grounded AC power outlet nearby.
