Chapter 3: Motherboard Connections
M.2 Slot
This motherboard has one M.2 slot (M.2-H). The M.2 slot supports PCIe 4.0 x4/SATA 3.0
(32Gb/s) SSD cards in the 2280 and 22110 form factors.
SATA Port
There is one SATA 3.0 port (I-SATA1) on the motherboard, which provides connections for
ve SATA 3.0 (RAID 0, 1, 5, 10), with four to 2.5" SATA BPN and one to 3.5" SATA BPN, one
SATA 3.0 with DOM power receptacle connector and one SATA 3.0 right angle receptacle
connector.
Supermicro SuperDOMs are backward compatible with regular SATA headers or SATA DOMs
that need external power cables. Set J3 to pins 1-2 to use the SATA port as onboard SATA
or pins 2-3 as AOC SAS.
Note: For more information on the SATA HostRAID conguration, refer to the Intel SATA
HostRAID user's guide posted at https://www.supermicro.com/support/manuals/.
Chassis Backplane Connector
Use J1 to connect to the system backplane. This connection provides Ethernet to the system
and CMM management.
CPLD JTAG Header
A Complex-Programmable-Logical-Device (CPLD) JTAG header is located at J6 on the
motherboard.
VGA/USB Module Connector
Use JKVM1 to connect to a VGA/USB module.
Internal USB 3.2 Type-A Connector
There is one internal USB 3.2 port (JUSB1) on the motherboard.
Intel RAID Key Header
The JREK1 header allows you to enable RAID functions for NVMe connections. Refer to the
table below for pin denitions.
