Chapter 2: Installation and Setup

Checking the Server Air Flow

• Make sure there are no objects to obstruct airow in and out of the server.

• Do not operate the server without drive carriers in the drive bays.

• Use only recommended server parts.

• Make sure no wires or foreign objects obstruct air ow through the chassis. Pull all excess

cabling out of the airow path or use shorter cables.

The control panel LEDs display system heat status. See “Control Panel” in Chapter 1 for

details.

Overheating

There are several possible responses if the system overheats.

• Use the LEDs to determine the nature of the overheating condition.

• Make sure all fans are present and operating normally.

• Check the routing of the cables.

• Verify that the heatsinks are installed properly.

Checking the Temperature of an NVMe Drive

There are two ways to check using the BMC Dashboard.

Checking a Drive

• BMC Dashboard > Server Health > NVMe SSD – Shows the temperatures of all NVMe

drives.

• BMC Dashboard > Server Health > Sensor Reading > NVME_SSD – Shows the single

highest temperature among all the NVMe drives.
