6. Operation
6.1. Safety Instructions for Operation
Attention
This device must be used only for the purposes it is designed for.
This device is intended for professional use as a DMX controllable WAV media player. It can be used only
indoors. This device is not suitable for households.
Any other use, not mentioned under intended use, is regarded as non-intended and incorrect use.

Power supply
Before connecting the device to the power supply, make sure that the current, voltage and frequency match
the input voltage, current and frequency specified on the information label on the device.
6.2.
Control Modes
The Melodist Mobile can be operated with a DMX controller or with the control panel (02).
The Melodist Mobile supports the following control modes (see 6.7.2. DMX Mode on page 20):
• Trigger mode (see 6.2.1. Trigger Mode)•
• Player mode (see 6.2.2. Player Mode)•
For more information about how to connect the devices, refer to Setup (see 5. Setup on page 12).
Make sure the SD card with audio files is set up correctly (see 5.3. SD Card on page 14).
6.2.1. Trigger Mode
In Trigger mode, the Melodist Mobile plays up to 10 WAV files simultaneously. This mode uses 11 DMX channels
(see 6.8. DMX Channels on page 21). Channel 1–10 are used to start, stop and pause the audio files. Channel
11 controls the output volume.
If no DMX signal is present, the 6 triggers connected to the 4-pin GPIO Phoenix terminal connector IN for
triggers (06) can start the first 6 audio files.
Note:
Make sure the WAV files are in the root folder of the SD card and are named correctly (see 5.3. SD Card on
page 14).
6.2.2. Player Mode
In Player mode, the Melodist Mobile plays one audio file at a time. This mode uses 5 DMX channels (see 6.8.
DMX Channels on page 21).
The 4
th
DMX channel controls the mode in Player mode. The following 4 modes are available:
• Single continuous:
The device plays all audio files in a folder in order

• Single shot:
The devices play 1 audio file and then stops
•
• Continuous loop:
The device plays 1 audio file on a loop
•
• Continuous random:
The device plays all audio files in a folder in a random order
•
