9. Start-up
m ATTENTION!
Always make sure the device is fully assembled
before commissioning!
m Attention!
The engine does not come with oil in it. There-
fore, ensure that you add oil before starting it up.
Use normal, multigrade oil (SAE 30). The oil level
in the engine must be checked each time before
mowing. You will also need to ll in petrol, as this
is also not supplied upon delivery.
• In order to avoid any unintentional start-ups
of the lawnmower, it comes equipped with
an engine brake (g. 1/item 3) which must be
pulled back before the engine can be started.
When the engine control lever (3) is released it
must return to its initial position, at which point the
engine automatically switches o.
• Press the engine brake lever (3) together and give
the pull cable starter (17) a vigorous pull. (Fig. 14)
ATTENTION: When you pull the pull cable starter,
the cutting blade rotates even with a dissolved en-
gine brake lever. Make sure that there are no body
parts in the danger zone of the cutting blade.
• When the engine is running, press the drive lever
(2) to the handle (1) in order to engage the drive on
the mower.
• Before you start mowing, you should run through
this process several times in order to ensure that
the machine is working properly.

m WARNING
Every time you need to do any adjustment and/
or repair work on your lawnmower, wait until the
blade stops turning.
Always switch o the engine and take out the
spark plug before carrying out any adjustments,
maintenance or repairs.
Using the drive:
• Engine brake: Use the engine brake lever (3) to
stop the engine. When the engine brake lever (3)
is released, the engine and the cutting blade stop
automatically.
• To mow, pull the drive lever (2) towards the handle
(1). Before actually mowing, check the drive lever
(2) several times. Ensure that the pull cable can be
smoothly operated.
• Drive lever (2):
If you press this, the clutch for the drive will be
closed and the lawnmower will start to move with
the engine running.
2. Fasten the lower push bar (4a) with one screw (a),
1 washer (c) and 1 plastic star nut (d) on each side
of the mower respectively. Ensure that the pull
cords, which will be fastened later, are not in the
way (Fig. 2-3).
3. Screw the upper push bar (4) to the lower push
bar (4a) with the quick clamp lever (5), a large
washer (b), a small washer (c) and a plastic star
nut (d) on both sides (Fig. 4-5).
4. Pull the throttle cable through the electric starter
unit (18) as shown in gure 5a.
5. Use a pliers to place the throttle cable in the en-
gine brake lever (3). (Fig. 5b-5c)
6. Secure the electric starter unit (18) to the upper
push bar (4) using the screws (f). (g. 5d)
7. Insert the handle of the pull cable starter (17) in
the designated hook as shown in g. 6.
8. Secure the pull cables to the push bar with the
cable clip (e) (Fig. 7).
9. Catch basket (16) - open it up and click the plastic
clips into position on the frame. (Fig. 8)
10. Mowing with the catch basket (16):
Lift the discharge ap (15) with one hand and hook
in the catcher bag (16) as shown in Fig.9.
11. Mulching:
If the catch basket (16) is attached, remove it and
replace it with the mulching insert (19) as shown
in g. 10-12.
Attention:
The side discharge cover must not be installed when
mulching.
Setting the cutting height
m Attention! Adjust the cutting height only when
the engine is switched o and the plug boot has
been pulled.
• Before you begin to mow, check to ensure that the
blade is not blunt and that none of the fasteners are
damaged.
• To prevent any imbalance, replace blunt and/or
damaged blades as a set only (if applicable). To
carry out this check, rst switch o the engine and
pull the spark plug connector.
• The cutting height is centrally adjusted with the
wheel height adjustor lever (g. 13/ item 14). 5 dif-
ferent cutting heights can be set.
• Pull the adjustor lever out and select the desired
cutting height. The lever snaps into the desired po-
sition (Fig. 13).
Preparing the area to be mowed
Before mowing, carefully examine the area. Remove
stones, sticks, bones, wires, toys and other objects
that may be ejected by the device.
