6. After work, regularly clean the visible mechanisms
of the chain brake to remove chips and sawing
residues.
10.2 Chain lubrication
m CAUTION!
• Never work without chain lubrication! If the saw
chain runs dry, the cutting gear will be irreparably
destroyed in a short time.
• Always check chain lubrication before working.
1. Check the oil level on the basis of the oil level in-
dicator (15) (Fig. 13).
10.3 Rell the chain oil (Fig. 13)
m CAUTION!
• Only add environmentally friendly, good quality chain
lubricating oil (per RAL-UZ 48) to the chain saw.
• Do not add used oil. Used oil can cause skin can-
cer with extended and repeated skin contact, and
is damaging to the environment! Used oil does not
have the necessary lubricating characteristics and
is unsuitable for chain lubrication.
• An oil other than the recommended oil can cause
damage to the rail, chain and lubrication system.
• Make sure that no dirt gets into the oil tank.
• Avoid oil spillages. Always wipe up spilled oil.
1. Unscrew the oil fuel cap (14). Before opening,
clean the oil fuel cap (14) and the lling nozzle
if necessary.
2. Carefully add the chain lubricating oil until it
reaches the top mark on the oil level indicator (15).
10.4 Checking the chain lubrication (Fig. 13)
1. Start the device (see section “Switching on the
device”).
2. Hold the chainsaw during operation, at medium
speed, over a sawed-o tree stump or a suitable
surface. If the lubrication is sucient, a light lm
of oil will form on the tree stump or surface.
3. There is an oil adjustment screw on the bottom
of the chainsaw which can be used to control the
chain lubrication by turning.
- First press and then turn the oil adjustment
screw clockwise to reduce chain lubrication.
- First press and then turn the oil adjustment
screw anti-clockwise to increase chain lubri-
cation.
Chain catcher: reduces risk of injuries.
the saw chain should break or slip when the engine
is running. The chain catcher is designed to catch a
apping saw chain.
Front hand guard: protects the operator’s left hand
should it slip o the front handle while the chainsaw
is running.
10. Before commissioning
10.1 Chain brake
m WARNING!
The chain brake must be checked before each use.
The chain brake brakes the saw chain immediately in
the event of kick-back.
1. Make sure that the hand guard (9) is free of dirt
and moves easily.
2. Start the chainsaw and accelerate the saw chain
to full speed (full throttle).
3. With the saw chain running, operate the hand
guard (9). The chain brake must brake and lock
the saw chain at max. speed.
m WARNING! Increased engine speed for too long
with the chain brake locked will damage the engine
and the chain drive.
If the saw chain (6) still moves, contact the custom-
er service.
10.1.1 Manual activation of the chain brake (Fig.
11)
1. Tilt the hand guard (9) in the direction of the guide
rail tip.
10.1.2 Releasing the chain brake (Fig. 12)
1. Draw the hand guard (9) in the direction of the
bow-type handle (10).
10.1.3 Checking the chain brake
1. Set the chainsaw down on a rm surface.
2. Release the chain brake.
3. Hold the chainsaw tight in both hands.
4. Switch the chainsaw on. The saw chain (6) starts
running.
5. Tilt the hand guard (9) in the direction of the guide
rail tip. The chain must come to an immediate
standstill! If the saw chain (6) still moves, contact
the customer service.
