INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION WITHIN A COVERED AREA
The water heater must be located such that the installation meets the requirements of AS/NZS 5601.1. There
must be sufficient ventilation so the water heater has an adequate supply of combustion air and the flue
products are readily dispersed safely. It is the licensed installer’s responsibility to ensure the installation
complies with the relevant sections of the Gas Installations Standard.
Installation of this continuous flow gas water heater is permitted within a partially or fully covered area or recess
that:
(a) is not a balcony and is open on at least two sides, if its flue terminal is located to ensure a free flow of air
across it is achieved, or
(b) is not a balcony and is open on one side only, if the flue terminal extends beyond either an external corner
or the covered area and discharges toward the open side to ensure that combustion products discharge
to open atmosphere, or
(c) is a balcony and regardless of the number of open sides, the flue extends beyond either an external corner
or any covered area and discharges toward an open side to ensure that combustion products discharge
to open atmosphere.
Additional clearances to openings into the building or obstructions also apply, refer to AS/NZS 5601.1
Clause 6.9.3.
