2.1 General description of the safe PROFINET gateway

In order to implement a system-wide safety concept, safe I/O data must be exchanged

between various PROFINET systems. This means that two PROFINET systems in different

subnetworks must be connected together.

The function of the FL PN/PN SDIO-2TX/2TX safe PROFINET gateway is to copy safety-

related and non-safety-related I/O data from PROFINET system 1 to PROFINET system 2

and vice versa.

PROFIsafe address The device contains two PROFIsafe slaves, for each of which the user must set a custom

PROFIsafe address. To this end, the device has two 10-pos. DIP switches for setting

PROFIsafe addresses. Each PROFIsafe slave can be clearly identified in the network by

means of its PROFIsafe address.

Display elements (LEDs) Diagnostic information can be displayed directly on the device via the diagnostic indicators

(LEDs).

The following status information is displayed:

–PROFINET/PROFIsafe

– Safe state

– Ethernet connection

– Supply voltage
