the documents listed in “Documentation” on page 17.

Safety of personnel and

equipment

The safety of personnel and equipment can only be assured if the safe PROFINET gateway

is used correctly (see “Intended use” on page 16).

Error detection Depending on the wiring and the corresponding setting of the safe I/O device parameters,

the PROFIsafe system can detect various errors within the safety equipment.

Observe startup behavior

Do not carry out

any repairs

Repair work may not be carried out on the FL PN/PN SDIO-2TX/2TX safe PROFINET

gateway.

Do not open the housing/

security seal

It is strictly prohibited to open the FL PN/PN SDIO-2TX/2TX housing. In order to prevent the

manipulation of the device supplied and to detect the unauthorized opening of the device, a

security seal is applied to the device (see Figure 2-4 on page 29). This security seal is

damaged in the event of unauthorized opening. In this case, the correct operation of the

device can no longer be ensured.

Measures to prevent

incorrect connection and

polarity reversal

Take measures to prevent the incorrect connection, polarity reversal, and manipulation of

connections.

WARNING: Uncontrolled system/machine startup possible

Take appropriate measures to ensure that your system/machine does not start up

uncontrolled.

As two PROFINET systems are coupled to the safe PROFINET gateway,

acknowledgment in one PROFINET system can lead to unintentional machine startup in

the other PROFINET system.

Therefore, system-wide measures for preventing unintentional machine startup must be

planned and implemented in both PROFINET systems.

Observe the notes on color coding and security elements for patch cables in “Connecting

the Ethernet interfaces” on page 39 and “Accessories” on page 65.
