3 Installation
3.1 Installation instructions
IEC 61010-1:
• In building installation, disconnecting devices and auxiliary circuit safety equipment
must be provided with suitable AC or DC values.
• The device is intended for installation in a control cabinet or in a comparable housing.
The device may only be operated once it has been installed. The control cabinet must
meet the requirements of a fire protection housing in accordance with the safety
standard UL/IEC 61010-1 and provide adequate protection against electric shocks
and burns.
• Provide a switch/circuit breaker close to the device, which is marked as the discon-
necting device for this device.
• Provide an overcurrent protective device (I
16 A) within the installation.
• To protect the device against mechanical or electrical damage, install it in a suitable
housing with an appropriate degree of protection in accordance with IEC 60529.
• During maintenance work, disconnect the device from all effective power sources.
• The cover of the control elements may only be opened in de-energized state.
• If the device is not used as described in the documentation, the intended protection
may be impaired.
Please note the following instructions regarding the installation:
• Only use copper conductors with a temperature resistance of at least 95°C.
• Externally connected circuits routed at a distance of more than 42.6 m outside build-
ings must be protected against lightning strikes and transient overvoltage in accor-
dance with the requirements of ANSI/NFPA-70, Edition 2020 – Part III Protection,
Section 805.90 Protective Devices.
WARNING: Electrical danger due to improper installation
Cables carrying hazardous contact voltages must at least have a basic insulation.
CAUTION: Risk of injury
Make sure that you connect all required connecting cables before you start up
the device. Do not remove the connecting cables from the device under load to
prevent an electric arc.
CAUTION: Risk of injury
To avoid work under hazardous voltage, only use sources for calibration that are
not considered “HAZARDOUS ACTIVE” in accordance with IEC 61010-1 6.3.1.
NOTE: Electrostatic discharge
Take protective measures against electrostatic discharge before operating or
installing the device.
