2.3 Version description
10 A devices
The current-carrying conductor is connected to the input terminal blocks of the device.
The 10 A devices have a total of four current measurement ranges:
– 0 A AC/DC … 0.1 A AC/DC
– 0 A AC/DC … 1 A AC/DC
– 0 A AC/DC … 5 A AC/DC
– 0 A AC/DC … 10 A AC/DC
100 A devices
The housings of the 100 A devices have a cable feed-through in the form of a plastic tube.
The current-carrying conductor is therefore fed through the device housing and does not
make contact at the input termina blocks. When using an insulated cable, the advantage
of this type of installation is that the voltage can be above 300 V, as the current-carrying
cable does not have electrical contact to the printed circuit board.
Currents are measured using the principle of true RMS value measurement in the fre-
quency range of 0 Hz to 1000 Hz. A current measurement range of 0 A AC/DC to
100 A AC/DC is available.
Devices with analog output (...-UI(-REL-...))
The devices with installed relay have a digital transistor output (DO) and a configurable
digital input (DI). You can define freely selectable switching thresholds (current values)
for the relay. If the values are above or below the specified switching thresholds, the relay
switches and can therefore switch an actuator (e.g., a heating system) on or off. A floating
signal contact can be used to report this event to a control room.
Devices with digital output (...-MRTU)
The digital current measuring transducers with serial bus (...-MRTU) output the current
values via the adapted interface. The devices communicate with control systems via
Modbus/RTU (RS-485). The output is short-circuit-proof.
In the case of Modbus/RTU, the Modbus application layer protocol is supplemented with
additional information and physically sent via an RS-485 interface. The start and end of a
Modbus message is coordinated by means of timings.
Modbus/RTU is a client/server protocol.The ECM acts as a Modbus/RTU server.The addi-
tional information consists of one byte for addressing the device. Valid device addresses
are in the range from 1 to 247.The default setting for the devices is address 1. Address 0
is reserved for broadcast messages in the network and cannot be assigned as an address
to a device. According to the specification, addresses 248 to 255 are reserved and cannot
be assigned to the device either.A cyclic redundancy check (CRC) is attached to the Mod-
bus message as additional information. The CRC is used to detect transmission er-
rors. The calculation and the polynomial used are documented in the Modbus
specification.
