1.3 Qualification of users

The High Power Charging system may only be handled by qualified and authorized electri-

cally skilled persons. The system operates in mains operation (charging rectifier). It con-

tains components carrying high currents and voltages.

Operating errors or misuse can result in danger to life of the operator or third persons. The

product and other material assets may be damaged. Operating errors may restrict efficient

work with the product. Non-observance of the instructions and safety notes in this user man-

ual may result in substantial danger.

To ensure that work on live parts of electrical systems and equipment is carried out safely,

staff have to be “AuS“-certified (German certification for live working) or have an equivalent

certification. The electrically skilled person with “AuS certification” (German certification for

live working) or equivalent is responsible for compliance with existing standards and regu-

lations, especially for compliance with VDE 0105, DGUV Regulation 3 and DGUV

Regulation 103. Further training for staff can be requested from Phoenix Contact.

Obligations of the operator

– The operator has to ensure that the staff have the required qualification for the respec-

tive task. He/she has to make sure that the staff are only responsible for clearly defined

and separated tasks.

– The operator has to make sure that training and instruction sessions are planned and

held successfully before the staff are allowed to use the product.

– The operator shall not be liable for inadequately qualified skilled persons as this impos-

es a risk factor.

Skilled persons in the sense of the accident prevention regulations are persons who,

because of their professional training, can assess any required operations and recog-

nize any possible dangers. Skilled persons have the required knowledge of the relevant

regulations.

– The operator ensures that this user manual is always available near the product.

Basic information on operational safety

– Keep unauthorized persons away from the device or system.

– Ensure operational safety through proper grounding, cable dimensioning, and corre-

sponding short-circuit protection.

– Observe the safety notes on the device and in these operating instructions.

– Remove all power sources before performing visible inspections or maintenance. En-

sure power sources cannot be switched on again.

Safety notes on measurements on live systems

– Do not touch electrical connecting points.

– Remove jewelry from wrists and fingers.

– Determine the safe operation state of the test equipment used.

– When working on the device, stand on insulated ground.

– Do not place any items on the housing.

– Changes in the environment of the device have to comply with the applicable national

standards.
