2 Function description of the module

Refer to the data sheet for technical information about the module, including termi-

nal point assignment as well as diagnostic and status indicators and their meanings.

2.1 General description

The module is designed for use within an Axioline F station. This counter module acquires

and processes fast pulse sequences from sensors.

The module has four operating modes:

– Event counting

– Frequency measurement

– Time measurement

– Speed measurement

The module has:

– Two counter inputs S1, S2

– Six digital inputs, see Table 2-1 “Digital inputs“.

In the default setting, the digital inputs are set to the “Digital input” function.

Alternatively, you can parameterize the function in accordance with Table 2-1.

– Four digital outputs CNT1_OUT1, CNT1_OUT2, CNT2_OUT1, CNT2_OUT2

The module automatically controls the parameterizable switching outputs. In this

way it is possible to achieve fast response times that are independent of both the bus

and controller.

The default parameterization allows you to start up the module without having to param-

eterize it.

Alternatively, you can parameterize the channels via an engineering tool or via PDI ob-

jects. The new parameterization is stored retentively. Thus, it will still be available after a

voltage reset.

In the event of reparameterization, the parameterized channel is stopped and start-

ed with the new parameterization.
