7.3.7. System updates

Upgrade the system from storage.

Local update

Settings -> Signage Display -> System updates -> Local

update

The system will automatically search for “update.zip” or

“combofw.zip” les in the root directory of the USB disk or

the root directory of the internal storage. If either “update.

zip” or “combofw.zip” is found, a selectable list will pop up

for the user to choose which le to use for the update.

(1). "update.zip"

After selecting the le from the list, the system will reboot

and proceed with the system update. Please note that

downgrading Android is not supported.

(2). "combofw.zip"

After selecting the le from the list, the system will rst start

Scaler FW update and then automatically begin the Android

system update upon restarting. The “combofw.zip” le has

the following two structures:

• “update.zip” + “PHL_{model name}.bin”.

• “update.zip” + “{multi-size scaler}.zip” or “update.zip” +

“{multi-size scaler}.7z”.

Please note that:

a. Keep the system powered on during the update

process; do not remove the power adapter.

b. Currently, the system only supports full Android

updates.

c. Update les must be named either “update.zip”

or “combofw.zip”.

d. The “update.zip” or “combofw.zip” le must

be placed in the root folder of the external or

internal storage.

7.3.8. Scaler FW updates

7.3.8.1. Start update

Settings -> Signage Display -> Scaler FW updates -> Start

update

System will auto search “PHL_{model name}.bin” in root

folder of USB disk or root of internal storage. If system

found, pop-up a selectable list for user select which le user

wants to use for update.

After select the le in list, system will reboot and do Scaler

FW update.

Please note that:

a. Keep system power alive during Scaler FW update,

do not remove power adapter.

7.4. Apps

Application information and notication settings for

installed application in the system.

7.4.1. See All Apps

List all applications installed in the system. Then, check

the current settings and information for each app, such as

notication, permission, storage & cache, network usage and

other settings.
