Before use
Charging the battery pack
CAUTION!
► Always unplug the appliance before you
remove the battery pack from or connect the
battery pack to the charger.
WARNING!
► Observe the safety instructions and the
instructions on charging and correct use
given in the operating instructions for your
series battery and charger.
A detailed description of the charging pro-
cess and further information can be found in
these separate operating instructions.
NOTE
►
The battery is partially charged. Ideally,
charge the battery completely before use.
You can charge the lithium-ion battery at
any time without shortening its service life.
Interrupting the charging process does not
damage the battery.
► Never charge the battery pack if the ambient
temperature is below 10°C or above 40°C.
If a lithium-ion battery is to be stored for an
extended period, the charge level should be
checked regularly. The optimum charge level is
between 50% and 80%. The storage climate
should be cool and dry, and the ambient tem-
perature should be between 0°C and 50°C.
► The recommended ambient temperature
range for using tools and batteries is
between –5°C and 50°C.
♦ If necessary, remove the battery pack from
the appliance.
♦ Insert the battery pack into the charger .
♦ Plug the power plug into a mains outlet.
♦ When charging is complete, disconnect the
charger from the mains.
♦ Pull the battery pack out of the charger .
♦ Switch off the charger for at least 15 minutes
between successive charging sessions. Also
disconnect the power plug.

► Always switch off the appliance and remove
the battery before carrying out any work on
the appliance.
Switching on and off
During operation, you can choose between in-
stantaneous and continuous operation. Select the
required operation mode as follows:
Switching to instantaneous operation:
♦ Press the ON/OFF switch .
Switching off instantaneous operation:
♦ Release the ON/OFF switch .
Switching to continuous operation:
♦ Press the ON/OFF switch , keep it pressed
in and then press the locking button .
Switching off continuous operation:
♦ Press the ON/OFF switch and then release
it.
Setting the rotation direction
♦ Change the direction of rotation by pressing the
rotation direction switch towards the
left or right.
WARNING!
► The direction of rotation may only be
changed when the appliance is at a standstill.
Fitting/removing the attachment tool
Fitting the bit holder and screw bit
♦ Pull the adjusting ring off the tool holder .
♦ Insert the bit holder into the tool holder .
♦ Insert the screw bit into the bit holder .
♦ Place the adjusting ring on the tool holder
.
♦ Attach the depth stop sleeve onto the adjusting
ring .
♦ Disassembly is carried out in the reverse order.
