Preparation
■ The personal protective equipment protects your
own health and that of others and ensures
smooth operation of the appliance:
– Wear suitable work clothing such as sturdy
shoes with non-slip soles, robust long trousers,
gloves, safety goggles and hearing protec-
tion. Wear them for the entire time the
machine is in use. Do not use the appliance
when walking barefoot or wearing open
sandals. Wear respiratory protection to
protect yourself from dust.
– Do not wear loose hanging clothing or
jewellery that could be sucked in at the air
inlet. Wear a protective head covering if you
have long hair.
Keep long hair away from the suction
openings.
■ Watch out for people, especially children, pets,
open windows, etc. The blown material can be
flung in their direction. Interrupt work if they are
in the vicinity. Keep a safe distance of 5 metres
around you.
■ Familiarise yourself with your surroundings and
pay attention to possible dangers that may not
be noticed when working.
■ Carefully inspect the area to be cleaned and
remove all wires, stones, cans and other foreign
objects.
■ Loosen foreign objects with a rake or broom
before starting to blow.
■ Use all parts of the blower pipe so that the
airflow can work close to the ground.
■ In very dry conditions, lightly moisten the sur-
face or use a sprayer to reduce dust exposure.
■ Do not work with a damaged or incomplete
appliance or one that has been modified without
the manufacturer’s consent. Check the safety
condition of the appliance, especially the
switch, before use.
■ Only use the appliance when it is fully assembled.
■ Never operate the appliance with faulty protec-
tive devices or covers or without protective
devices.
■ Please note that the operator or user is respon-
sible for accidents or hazards to other persons
or their property.
■ Avoid wearing loose-fitting clothing or clothing
with hanging strings or ties.
■ Operate the machine in a recommended
position and only on a firm, level surface.
■ Do not operate the machine on a paved or
gravelled surface where the ejected material
could cause injury.
■ Always carry out a visual inspection before use
to ensure that the fasteners are secured, that the
housing is undamaged and that the protective
devices and shields are in place. Replace worn
or damaged components in sets to maintain
balance. Replace damaged or illegible labelling.
■ Before starting the machine, make sure that the
feeder is empty.
■ Keep your face and body away from the feed
opening.
■ Do not allow hands, other parts of the body or
clothing to be in the feeder, in the ejection duct
or near moving parts.
■ Do not stand in the ejection zone when operating
the machine.
■ When feeding material into the machine, be
extremely careful that no pieces of metal,
stones, bottles, cans or other foreign objects are
introduced.
■ Switch off the power source immediately and
wait until the machine has run down if the
cutting mechanism hits a foreign object or if the
machine starts to make unusual noises or vibrate.
Remove the battery and take the following steps
before restarting and operating the machine:
– Check for damage;
– Replace or repair damaged parts;
– Check for loose parts and tighten them.
■ Do not allow processed material to accumulate
in the ejection zone as this may prevent proper
ejection and may cause the material to back-
feed through the feed opening.
