Safety guidelines for pruning shears
■ Never operate the pruning shears with damaged cutting blades.
■ Hold the pruning shears only by the insulated grips as the blade
of the pruning shears could come into contact with hidden power
lines. If the cutting blades of the pruning shears come into contact
with a “live” power line, exposed metal parts of the pruning
shears could become energized, resulting in an electric shock to
the operator.
■ Keep your hands away from the cutting blades. While the cutting
blades are moving, do not remove any clippings and do not
firmly grip the material being cut. Make certain that the trigger
switch is off while removing trapped clippings. Make certain that
no wire fences or foreign bodies are present that could be caught
by the pruning shears during operation.
■ Carry the pruning shears by the handle with the blade at a stand-
still and be careful not to operate the switch. Carrying the prun-
ing shears correctly will reduce the risk of accidental activation
and any resulting injury from the blade.
■ When transporting or storing the pruning shears, always pull the
protective cover over the blades. Proper handling of the pruning
shears will reduce the risk of injury from the blades.
■ Make sure that all switches are turned off and the battery has been
removed or deactivated before removing trapped clippings or
servicing the machine. Unexpected operation of the pruning shears
when removing trapped material can result in serious injury.
■ Keep all mains cables away from the cutting area. Cables can be
hidden in hedges and bushes and could be cut accidentally by
the blade.
■ Do not use the pruning shears in bad weather, especially if there
is a risk of a thunderstorm. This reduces the risk of being struck
by lightning.
