EFFECTS
OVERVIEW
Each Piano and Sample Synth Layer has its own, independent, effects
chain, enabling different effects and settings to be used for each sound
source on the Nord Piano 6. The one exception is the GLOBAL REVERB
effect which, as the name indicates, is globally shared by all Layers in
a Program. With the Reverb set to the LAYER SEND mode however, its
Dry/Wet level can be set individually per Layer – all other Reverb settings
still being shared.
ACTIVATING EFFECTS AND GLOBAL MODE
To enable an effect, press its ON button.
The Equalizer, Compressor and Delay effects can be set to GLOBAL
mode, which applies the effect to all Piano and Sample Synth Layers.
This is done by pressing Shift+On for that effect. When turning Global
mode off all Layers will share the same settings for that effect, until
modified manually.
FX ON (EFFECTS ON) AND FX FOCUS
FX ON can be pressed for instantly turning on or off all
effects at once. Useful for monitoring how a Program
sounds without active effects.
The focus for the Effects section automatically follows the focus of Layer
buttons in the Piano and Sample Synth sections, as they are pressed on
the panel.
Focusing a particular Layer for editing can also be done
by pressing the PIANO or SYNTH button in the FX FOCUS
area.
The current FX Focus is indicated by the LEDs in the FX
FOCUS area.
GROUP
By pressing GROUP (Shift+Piano/Synth focus) effects can be grouped
together for the Piano and/or the Synth section. In grouped mode,
effects for Layer A and B are linked, with all edits having immediate
effect on both Layers. This is useful when creating layered Piano or
Sample Synth sounds where effects should have the same settings on
both Layers.
MOD 1
The MOD 1 unit offers six different types of modulation effects. Use its
Selector button to switch between the available settings, the RATE knob
to set the rate (speed) of the selected effect and the AMOUNT knob to
set the amount or intensity of the effect.
CTRLPEDAL (CONTROL PEDAL)
All effects in the Mod 1 unit can be controlled by an expression pedal
attached to the CTRL/VOL PEDAL jack. This is achieved by activating
CTRLPED (Shift+Selector button). For the Tremolo and Pan effects
the pedal controls the Amount, whereas the Spin, Wah and the Ring
Modulator have their Rate controlled by the pedal.
TREM (TREMOLO)
TREM (Tremolo) provides a smooth volume modulation that continuously
varies the volume level of the output signal. Tremolo is a very common
effect to use with electric pianos.
